Victims Assistance Program

The Victim’s Assistance Program offers advocacy and support for crime victims beginning at the scene of the crime and continuing for as long as needed.

In 1999, Mission Granbury first offered services to victims of crime through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant funding. The Victim Assistance Program Director provides services to non-resident victims of family violence at Mission Granbury’s Resource Center and supervises services provided to victims residing at the Ada Carey Center for Women and Children. Sexual assault survivors receive a full array of victims services including therapeutic counceling.

Services to victims begin at the scene of the crime by helping to meet the immediate needs of the victim and family. A 24/7 crisis hotline is staffed by specially trained staff and volunteers. A full array of services help the victim overcome the traumatic after-effects of victimization, participate in the law enforcement and criminal process, and move towards healing and stability.

During 2010, 960 victims of family violence and sexual assault received counseling, education, legal advocacy, and support services from Mission Granbury. Support services include crisis intervention, counseling, individual and/or group therapy, peer support groups, follow-up contacts, shelter/emergency lodging, information & referral, accompaniment (to hospital, law enforcement, court), criminal justice support/advocacy, assistance in filing for Crime Victim Compensation, assistance with Victim Impact Statement, personal advocacy, emergency legal assistance, and emergency financial assistance.
