Mission Granbury: providing help, safety, self sufficiency and well-being
Welcome!

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Hood Somervell

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is made up of 34 well-trained volunteer advocates who serve as a voice for abused and neglected children removed from their homes.

The Mission Granbury board of directors voted to make the Court Appointed Special Advocates program a part of Mission Granbury in November of 1998. Under the guidance of the CASA Program Director, trained CASA volunteers provide a powerful voice for child victims of abuse and neglect. They advocate for children who are going through the difficulty of being removed from their homes and placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. CASA of Hood County serves the community’s youngest victims. Last year, 34 trained CASA volunteers advocated for 101 abused and neglected children.

Success Story:

“Janie Sue, a 4-year-old with golden curls and a dazzling smile, had been in foster care for three years. Her background was tragic, and it was unlikely that she would ever be adopted. But thanks to the work of her CASA volunteer, Janie Sue was adopted last week.”
-- Jean Cate, CASA Program Director. Janie Sue now has a “forever” family to love them, care for them, and protect them because their dedicated CASA volunteers put the children’s best interests at the heart of the decision making process.
